2017 stewardship god blesses the world 01

This is an exciting time! There are many ways we live, share and celebrate with all people, God’s love in Jesus Christ. Make no doubt about us, God has blessed us all richly! Using those blessings, we in turn have been able to provide blessings to our church community, our living community, and the world. This fall, we embark on a year-long effort to explore how God blesses the world through Lord of Life.

Our annual fall Ministry Fair provides an opportunity to meet our ministry area coordinators (MACs) and some of our ministry partners to learn how your efforts make a difference. Don’t worry if you won’t be able to participate. We can put you in contact with the right person or ministry.

During our annual Stewardship learning event, we kick off a year-long effort to share with you all the great ministry work that is being done here and perhaps give you a bit of nudge to become more involved. We begin with the first of a series of three presentations on how God blesses the world through the things that we do, then we’ll touch on some tips for biblical stewardship, have some time for reflection, and conclude with Consecration Sunday.

We know that Lord of Life is an important part of your life. Whether you have been the provider or the recipient of blessings, Lord of Life has been meaningful to you. Please share a story with us in a short video, no more than 2-3 minutes. We hope to use these on our website, on Facebook, and throughout the year before our services to remind everybody that what we do is important.

The purpose of all these efforts is to help you grow in your relationship with God. Reflecting, determining and then carrying out our mission all begin with a strong relationship with God. We hope that through the coming year, these efforts will help you to grow in that relationship. As you grow in your relationship, we hope you’ll look to your time, your talents, and your treasure and see how you can put them to work to step forth boldly in ministry for the future. Here are some ways that you can do that.

Time and Talents

Stewardship is more than money; it is the priorities in your life for everything that you do. Stop hiding your light under a bushel! Make this the year you tap into the talents that God has given you and share them with others. Attend our Ministry Fair, listen to our monthly messages, or reach out to any of the ministry areas coordinators to see what you can do.

The Bible speaks of tithes and offerings. Tithes are the weekly support that was provided to the church, while offerings are those special opportunities to provide financial support for God. It is through this financial support that much of our outreach is possible.

You can give using offering envelops or by placing money in the plates on Sunday. Simply Giving is an electronic funding program, which allows you to customize the amount, date and frequency of gifts to be deducted from your checking or savings account.

Gifts of stock are very helpful and can provide some useful tax advantages to the person making the gift. Gifts can also be directed from your tax-sheltered retirement account. Bequests are another way of funding a lasting legacy. These and other gifts can make significant contributions possible to support ministry here.

If you haven’t been invested in this mission community previously, now would be a great time to start. If you have been involved, please consider stepping up your commitment. We are growing and need your help as we step forward to share the hope of Christ with all people.
