Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength. Take to heart these words that I give you today. Repeat them when you’re at home or away, when you lie down or get up. Deuteronomy 6:5-9
Fall is just around the corner and I know that children have been on the forefront of my mind these past few weeks. If there is one thing I have learned from raising my own two children as well as spending countless hours in the classroom with a wide range of students, it is that children are ever changing. Sure, kids are kids … they will always be kids. They are curious, eager to learn, and full of love, but how they manifest that curiosity, their passion for learning, or expressing that love does not look the same as it did twenty…even ten years ago.
In our ministry, the ever-changing youth are our passion, and some of the youth’s strongest cheerleaders have been working hard this summer to develop programing that will evolve with them.
While doing so, we discovered that faith education for our youth is a top priority. But we began to question, shouldn’t it be important for ALL members of the LOL family; tall, small, old, young? It is with that in mind that we began a journey to revamp the K-5 Sunday School hour.
This year we will be offering a station style learning opportunity in which children and their families can participate. We will provide a learning moment each Sunday with Pastor Lowell or Intern Corey leading us in Scripture, story, and song and then learners of all ages will be encouraged to participate in a variety of lesson-related activities offered that week. Think Vacation Bible School style, where there may be a craft, a science experiment, a cooking experience, storytelling, or even a place to just chill, read, and discuss that week’s story. We hope that through this new format families will join us in the learning experience. While not mandatory, adults will have the ability to learn alongside of youth and take advantage of experiencing how we can bring the Bible to life and carry it with us throughout the week.
Try something new this fall; channel your inner child, evolve, and join us for Rally Day on Sunday, September 16 at 9:30 am in the Fellowship Hall.
Here at Lord of Life, we have a vision: to embrace ongoing Christian faith formation, which empowers all people to connect with God, the world, and themselves in grace, service, and love! Join us and be a part of the movement!
